President Obama's speech at Rutgers University was inspired. For so long now I have been perplexed that in political life stupid has become cool. Being an expert is considered being 'the elite'. Facts have become whatever the last person on Facebook or Twitter told you.

Obama is absolutely right, "In politics and in life, ignorance is not a virtue."

So as we go through our day-to-day lives, it is up to all of us to call BS on our friends, family, and colleagues. As we make big life, business, and political decisions, we must educate ourselves and make an informed choice.

In politics it is more extreme than anywhere else. As there are only five weeks until the EU referendum, use that time wisely. Listen to the experts on the potentially disastrous economic impact of leaving the EU. Weigh up the risks against the benefits. If we all do this then 'stupid' will lose, and we will choose to remain in the EU whilst fighting for the democratic change that needs to happen within those institutions.
